Trunk Lid Scrapes at Front Edge

I wonder if your hinges or I should say the mounting tabs on the hinges are tweaked a bit. To get my trunk prop to go in the the slot (MKII Sprite) I have to push up on the trunk a bit..and the trunk doesn't align well. I think that is what happened to mine anyway..
Does the rest of the lid align OK?
 
If you had the hinges off the body, double check them, there is a left and a right.
It's quite hard to see the difference with your eye but if you put them on a flat surface, you can see the slight difference.
 
If it's a new gasket from M___ it will fit too high. Gaskets are improperly sized to fit correctly IMHO. I replaced mine on Bugsy my '68 and trunk does not close properly after replacement. Worked fine with old leaky gasket.
