TR4/4A Trunk/Boot rubber seal.

I believe this the correct seal...please confirm or otherwise.
Has anyone used an alternative seal,[ reason being that it is a little too thick around the main bend of the trunk lid and stops the lid from closing correctly].... if so, please describe.

Can't tell from your picture. I did have a problem with the new trunk seal from TRF. I had to trim it after I installed it. Not pretty but works well now.

That looks nothing like the one in my '62. We had a bit of a discussion of trunk seals on page 15 of my thread:

Thanks guys.
I have found an alternative that is a smaller profile and fits well and the trunk lid closes correctly.
Also has the advantage of being steel reinforced so as to clip onto the steel trunk lip....no adhesive necessary....see pics.
Hope that the trunk is completely waterproof.

I like the look and possibilities of that seal - but as noted above, looks nothing like the original that was on my 64 or either of the repros I have seen.

In their subscriber email a couple weeks ago Charles from TRF mentioned that they are "investigating" the trunk seal issue and will report back later. Apparently they've heard that the seals that they and others sell are not working like the should.

I found that the problem area that precluded a nice fit using the correct? seal was where the main trunk lid bend is.
My trunk lid and possibly most other TR's are not shaped correctly around the main bend in the lid. The gap [when the lid is closed] that is filled by the seal is much narrower at the bend than elsewhere.

Found a good use for the boot seal pinchweld...now on splash shield.
