MGA Troubleshooting the turn interuptor circuit.. MGA

Re: Troubleshooting the turn interuptor circuit..

David,

I have received the diagram. Thank you for taking the time.

The good news about senior moments is that you are senior and still around to have them...

I take solice in this fact as I have senior moments all too often... as in crawling out from under my A to get something, walking into the garage only to realize that I have forgotten what I came for... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Yup. Oldtimers' Disease. Put a tool down withing reachin' distance then when ya go for it again it takes ten minutes to locate. Or the 'crawl out from under'... I usually wander in broadening circles and hope I'll trip over whatever it was I crawled out FOR... or end up in the area of th' CAB locker inna garage. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thirsty.gif

Yes, Ron. IT as in InfoTech... Kinda 'splains a lot, huh? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Re: Troubleshooting the turn interuptor circuit..

DrEntropy,

After thirty five years or so as an EE, executive, and business owner... think I should'a taken an easier path... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nopity.gif

Had fun, tho. Still am... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

Ahhh, speaking of senior moments...what were we talking about??? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Happy Birthday... I'm not far behind... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Re: Troubleshooting the turn interuptor circuit..

LBC Fans,

To close this topic out...

ALL of my lights and turn signals are working now... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

The problem??? DPO...

When I took the flasher relay cover cover off of the unit I discovered that whoever had taken it apart before had put the cover on back aswards.... Soooo, the terminal markings were WRONG -- #1 was #8, #2 was #7, and so on...

I cleaned the contacts, put the cover on the correct way, wired it up and low and behold.. my parking lights and the rear lights as well as the turn signals WORK /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Thanks to Dave for the schematic of the flasher unit that illustrated the internals for me...

Now on to starting this puppy up and driving off into the sunset... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Re: Troubleshooting the turn interuptor circuit..

That's the reason making the assumption that any two of these forty-plus year old lumps would be the same is sheer folly. There's ALWAYS gonna be a 'snake' in some part or other you just can't see 'til you're BIT. One of the most difficult jobs we had as a restoration shop was overcoming those hidden gremlins... how do you charge for THAT?!?

...if it is more than five years old, it's: "time and materials. Don't like it? Do yer own work!"

Well bowled, Ron!

Wonder how long the car was set up that way... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif

Good question. The car has not been on the road since 1974. I have the original 'black' plates for the car and the paperwork shows last registration in that year... sooo, moot point but fun to ponder.. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
