Trouble with wire wheels...

My 72 Midget has wire wheels on it. I've had the same tire go flat twice in less than a week. Something inside the rim seems ro be puncturing the tube. That's all I can figure is happening. Any suggestions?

Do you have a "rubber band" running aorund the insde of the wire wheel to give more protection? If you remove the tire completely you should be able to run your fingers around the inside of the wheel and find whatever it is. Check for a lose spoke which may be intermitent in its ability to do damage.

I checked the wheel today. The rubber rim band is okay. The problem is the inner mounting for one of the spokes. Several of them feel very rough and sharp in places. It's one of these that is clearly puncturing the tube. I'm considering a few different fixes at the moment.
