Triumphs in Quadrophenia

I saw the movie Quadrophenia, The Who movie about mods and rockers on Speed a couple of nights ago.

Apart from all the other British cars there was a scene with a Herald and one of the big 6 cylinder saloons, a 2000 or 2500 in the background, and another with a red TR4/a or TR5 parked by the side of the road.

There may have been others I missed, anyone else remember seeing any?

Simon, Happy TRails!

I caught just about 10 minutes of the movie when it was on SpeedTV. I also noticed some Triumphs. I thought I saw a GT6 in there.

I love watching old movies, mostly for the cars in the background!

I watched about 1 hr of it too, trying to catch some TR's & good Who music (The sound track is great, especially Love Rain or Me, which I didn't catch in the movie. Did spot the Herald convert. I gotta say it was cool watching those guys with 250 lbs scooters with 200 lbs of chrome, mirrors & mudflaps.

Really tough to follow some of the dialog, I wish they would speak English, oopps I mean American!

Speaking of Speed Did you guys catch Alan DeC??? In Victory by Design. What a great series, I even caught the end of making of the series. Talk about some serious metal & trust of Alan flogging them about!! My wife even made sure we caught the series Sunday nights.

It is a great series and available on DVD. We had a posting about it a while ago with some related info you may wish to check out:

I enjoyed the Quad movie on SpeedTV (may be available to non-USA customers on satelite) and I saw all the TRs mentioned above, plus other stuff such as the Beford van in the "crash" scene (I *think* it was a Bedford).
I'm a big Who fan and have seen them in concert, so I like this movie for the music and the cars.
I also missed some of the dialoge even though I had a cockney accent as a little kid living in London...long time ago and long-since replaced by my "Joisey" accent.
If you are a Roger Daltry fan (from the Who), you can see him on Discovery TV cable channel doing an American wild-west history series...sounds unlikely, but it's funny and worthwhile.

I missed that one, but did see several years ago, an episode of HI five O where the shoot out at the end of the show was in a junkyard with a batch of TR3's in the back ground. Seems there was a very large fleet of rental tr's there even having their own distinct conv. top called a bikini top. When they were all trashed they were taken out to sea and made into an artificial reef!!!!!
Perhaps Dave has heard this story too.....
