Triumphest 2007

For three days in October the slots weren't the
attraction at the River Palms Hotel in Laughlin
Nevada, Triumphs were!
The Desert Center Triumph Register produced a fun
filled Triumphest with the traditional Triumphest
events. The featured model was the Stag. Why? It's
easy to extrapolate the year 2007 to 007 and what was
the only Triumph that our favorite spy drove? A
saffron hued Stag in Diamonds are Forever.
Our tough little Triumphs braved the desert
terrain for the annual celebration and their owners enjoyed the autocross, funkhana, rally, funcours, walking tour, hospitality party and awards banquet.
The Awards Banquet featured several guest speakers,
Glenn Merrill, myself, and Blake Disher. Glenn Merrill of the Stag Club offered
a presentation regarding a charity run in 2009 to be
organized by John Macartney. My presentation included
reasons to join VTR, how there are changes in VTR
which make VTR a more attractive organization to us on the west coast and the
announcement that in 2009, Triumphest will also be a
VTR National event to be held in the fall in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Blake Disher presented his vision for the future of
VTR, that the National Convention will be in Detroit in 2008, and how for him attending Triumphest was an
enjoyable, informative, and positive experience.
Yes, we had a blast, kudos to DCTRA for organizing the
event, and hold onto your hats guys, Triumphest is at
Lake Tahoe next year presented by Triumph Travelers.

For pictures from the event go to the Images Gallery on the VTR Forum.

I have wanted to go to Triumphest for three years now, but our local club holds an all British show here in Fresno on that weekend.

What is the date for next year's event? I have access to a beach house in Shell Beach and definately be there, MAYBE as a retiree! Or at least close to it.

Gsalt: Hello, there, from a fellow Valley British Car
member. Now, you've got to know that I fully intended
to go to Clovis for the show this year. I've been
painting the car; but, it would have gone anyway.
We planned on it, the wife and me....

But, my daughter, (14-year-old) contracted Valley Fever
which resulted in pneumonia. She was admitted at the
hospital and me and the wife (by far the wife) kept round
the clock post at her side until they released her
literally an hour ago.

It has been a tough week. Also, I was enticed by
Laughlin. Wife says it would be a long trip....I said,
yeah, so? She loves me and would have gone if the issue
was pushed.

Anyway, I want to also comment that you tried to contact me
on line. You said: "I see you're on line," or to that
effect. Yeah, somehow I read it about a bunch of weeks
later, or something. Sorry. I still don't know how to
contact a guy that's on line already and then engage a
chat. I'd like to, though.

Hope you had a great time at the show and sorry I wasn't
there to meet you personally. Maybe another time, with
God's will.

Good question !

Should have been announced ... was anyone listening ? Or did the news about 2009 push 2008 out of everyone's mind /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

SCTOA traded 2008 to Triumph Travelers, so it will likely be somewhat farther north than this year.

I think we've tried to connect a couple times.

Glad to hear that your daughter is out of the hospital. Everything I know about Valley Fever says that the cure is almost as bad as the disease, and that it can be as hard as chemotherapy. Nasty stuff. We will keep hr and the rest of your family in our prayers.

I got to read these posts more carefully. I will definately be retired when Triumphest comes to San Luis Obispo in 2009.

Get yourself a sandwich and a large coffee first because the server is slow. I looked at all of 4 pictures and gave up.

I looked there Bob, but I sure couldn't find anything except a notice in the newsletter about a planning meeting. No dates, no venue ... if you see the info there, could you please post a direct link ?

BTW, the link for the activity coordinator (Joe Cain) doesn't work either. I already dropped Joe a note letting him know.

Also, thanks for posting the information above.

Regarding the Images gallery in the VTR Forum; I haven't experienced any delay when viewing, all 14 pictures appeared quickly.
Randall, that is the Travellers web site and is what is on the flyer they handed out. Since the event is a year away the information might not be posted as yet. The dates I provided are also from the flyer and as announced by Rich and Karyn Gibbons at Laughlin.

Nice promo for Triumphest Bob!!

Keep it up /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif

Unfortunately I did not do my planned stick at the banquet. I forgot to finish with my "Best Trophies" motto, and a photo of the manure spreader.

So how many BCF members were at Triumphest?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif With Coolers? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thirsty.gif By the Pool?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
