I have two first gear hubs and I’m not sure which one is correct for my triumph TR3A see photos . It appears that the inner hubs are the same, but the outer hubs have some differences.

Should I assume that the interlock goes in the machined spline left photo and the spring and ball assemblies align with the right photo an interlock

I would suggest going by "feel" assemble with balls/springs and use the one that works best,
as it clicks in and out of neutral position. Inspect the balls for chipping too.

I do not think it makes any differance what one you use. I would deinatly replace the ball and springs on second gear becuase they keep it from popping out of second.
