Howdy all!

I had an interesting Triumph (and other LBC) spotting I thought I'd share to see if it was anyone here. I was in Vermont over the weekend, taking my girlfriend home to show her my old hometown. We were visiting the Ben & Jerry's factory on Sunday afternoon, and as we were leaving, we saw three TR6s, a round-tail Spitfire, an MGA, an XJS convertible, and a couple of MGBs all pull in together. All had Quebec tags.

Just curious if it was anyone here?

They were most probably from the British car club called "Le Rendezvous des Anglaises". Rendezvous means meeting or gathering or if you want to see a doctor, you ask for a rendezvous. If you have a mysterious lady-friend whom you sneak out to visit, that's a rendezvous. The second play on words is Anglaises. In French, a car is a Voiture - une voiture - feminine. So a rendezvous with an Anglaise could be a visit with une voiture anglaise (English) or a lady-friend who is "Anglaise" - (English).

They have a very nice magazine called "Clef Anglaise" again feminine. Another play on words. Une clef is a key and a clef anglaise is an "English Key" or "English Spanner" The British Sportscar is the "KEY" to get the ladies for a rendezvous.

This is only my wishful interpretation and I can't say if any of their members ever thought of it this way. Here is the link to their site. Very nice. They are a great and enthusiatic group with about 400 members.

A rare site:
My son spotted 5 "old English sport cars" yesterday about 4:15p on HWY 25 between Franklinton and Folsom Louisiana. He said they were on the shoulder of the road but appeared to be putting up the hood in prep for rain. He said they looked like they had "bug eye" head lights. They could have been earlier TR's, Sprites or MG's I guess. But it is a rare site to see them on the road. Any of BCFer's in that group?
