Triumph Spider [?] for sale

Well is it any one we know, is it a real Spider?

Not sure if it's real; if not, it's a pretty good imitation. The right stuff is there. But...

VIN is from Solihull; Piggott's book says they were built in Canley. (Although it could have been an early Solihull build; the number fits that.) The door panels are the earlier type with small, round holes for door lock, even though it's a Solihull car - again, may have been using early parts up. Steering wheel's different - once again, early Solihull possibility; grey dash - should be black, I think; seat covers are solid - Spiders' were striped (could have been changed).

Again, may be a true Spider, as inconsistencies did occur. :confuse: Lots of trouble for a small return.

Just looked again: TP prefix cars were Canley builds; SAT prefix cars were Solihull. But Solihull cars had numbers beginning with 400000, and some early cars at Solihull had the TP prefix.

Confusing, yes?

FYI - there are some TR7's with really solid bodies in AZ now based on my last Craigslist search, cheap too.

There's some confusion about where the Spider was built. In one place Piggott's book suggests they were built at Canley, but on page 84 they are referred to as Solihull-built. Mike Cooks book says they were all built at Solihull. I just know that I get jealous every time I see a nice example.

The car is about 20 minutes from me. Looks like some one stuck a different steering wheels & seat covers on. They made TR7 Spiders at both Canley & Solihull.

Hmmmm...wrong steering wheel, and my Spider doesn't have the 2.0 Litre trim on the side.
