triumph rear drums backplate orientation

HI!

I just had my rear split axles rebuilt and im having an issue. I can not find which way my backplates are supposed to go on. I have the girling 9" backplates and all the pictures seem to be different. Does anyone have a picture of before they put the drum back on. I think that the cylinder is on top with the emergency brake lever towards the rear? Right?

Thanks!

Which car? They aren't all the same ...

The cylinders go at the bottom and one notch to the rear, so about 7 o'clock position if you are looking at the right side of the car, or 5 o'clock looking at the left. The handbrake lever points up in both cases, so it lines up with the compensator on the axle. Here's a shot of the right side from the workshop manual.

Factory workshop manual, 2nd or 3rd edition (I forget which offhand), the one with the TR3 supplement in the back. Or the Bentley reprint of same. The supplement is where all of the Girling brakes and hydraulics are covered, as well as the later rear axle, full-flow oil filter and so on.
