Could you imagine such an ad on TV today for a pickup truck? "You're driving a man's truck. Shouldn't a man's truck be built by manly men?...Here at TMW (Testosterone Motor Works) our manly trucks are built by manly men and only manly men. Can your truck write it's name in the snow?"
Triumph carried on with the Manly advertising campaign from approx. 1906 thru 1914, when the western front offered compelling, (though short lived) career opportunities for men. Suddenly women mechanics didn't seem so bad.
One unvarified source stated that a realitivly high % of triumph employees headed back to the fatherland to fight for the Kaiser. Makes sense though because Triumph was originally founded by Siegfried Bettmann, a German national.
the market & society tends to correct its self.......one way or another.
