Triumph gone...Hawaiian ?

Several years ago while at a British Car Show a Triumph
car owner was walking around wearing this really cool
Hawaiian style shirt that had TR 3's all over it. He took
my name and was going to try and let me know where it came
from. Well...he never got any word back from him. SO...I cometo the real Triumph connection...the Forum...and ask...anyone out there know where a Triumph nut can find Hawaiian style shirts with TR3's on them? Thanks, Gil

My TR3A was originally delivered to Hawaii. Sadly, no shirts in the boot though.

My TR4 was also Hawaiian for 36 years... also no shirts.

I have seen a shirt similar to what you describe but with Big Healeys on it, so perhaps there was a whole line of such.

As a regular user of such shirts, I am somewhat familiar with the production and marketing of them. A print like that was probably only in production for a year, or two at the most. There are shops in the islands (and probably elsewhere -- check w/ Google) that sell "Vintage Hawaiian Shirts." Be prepared to part with surprising amounts of money for certain shirts in good condition. As we here are all aware, a "collectors item" can fetch more than might seem reasonable.

As an Island resident, I'm sure MGTF1250Dave could be of assistance here.

Aloha,

Hawaiian shirts are generally called "aloha shirts" here. I believe the shirt refered to was a special Chirstmas shirt made by Reyn Spooner in the '90s. A friend of mine had one that his son gave to him. Here is a link to a site showing offerings from several manufacturers:

Unfortunately most of the car themed aloha shirts are Mustang, Corvette, Thunderbird, etc. from US auto makers. I have been told that car themed shirts have legal steps required to use the car compamy's name, logo, model names etc. A few years ago I found a women's shirt in K-Mart in a print with a variety of British sports cars. They were not identified in anyway. I always look for a LBC themed saloha shirt, but I haven't found one yet.

The best bet to find this shirt is to look for vintage or classic aloha shirts on line.

I owned a TR4 when I was home ported at Pearl Harbor from 70 to 73, here are some pictures I just found. This was the day I purchased the car. You didn't end up with it did you?
