I have to add another to the list. Alexander (Mac) McNeill Jr. , my father in law. We went into town this past Friday to sign off on the papers to sell our old home and was informed his health was declining. We visited him that evening at the hospital and stayed with the family. We received a call early Saturday morning the he was taking his last breaths. He did indeed past onto heaven Saturday 9-10-11. We stayed in town this week to assist with arrangements and help with the decision making processes.

It was a tough week. Here is the link to his obituary:
Mac McNeill Passing

His car is the one I have been trying to reassemble with better parts. He loved that car and could personally attest that is would do 115 mph.....

I have a sadness in my heart because I will not be able to take him for the ride I promised him but I know he will be with me in spirit, when the job is complete.

Look over your shoulder every time you do something silly with the car, guess who will be shaking his head.
Sorry for your lose.

Regards, Wayne

More motivation to finish the car.... my condolences to you and your wife.

Put something of Alexander's in the car that you can see while driving. You know that his spirit will always be with you, but that item of his will always remind you to enjoy the drive we get to call life.

Keith

JP,

I am sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

When you drive the TR-3, always remember the good times Mac had with that car. He will be there watching over you.

Take care, my friend.

Paul

You do have fond memories that will last your lifetimes. Those are priceless to have.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Whenever I read about or know of anyone who served in WWII, I'm always in awe. I view all of those guys as superheroes. I watched some of Ken Burns' "American Experience" (I think that was it) a couple of nights ago that dealt with stories from WWII and it was amazing. Truly the greatest generation.

Sorry for your loss, JP. You're in good company, more than a few here have similar experiences.

Unwittingly, we restore these old cars only to have them outlive us. It's inevitable, really, for those of us who are approaching a "certain" age.

As long as I keep the shiny side up on my LBCs, I'm sure they'll outlive me. At least I hope so.

Preserving the past so others may enjoy: a great endeavor. :yesnod:

Sorry to hear about the loss. Time goes on.

Look at that old guy in my signature Pic, looking up at the sky. That's my old man gone almost two years. Loved anything British, especially my 4A. His was stationed in London before the invasion, and the War ended before it was his turn. He bought me my first in 1970; a '63 with so many problems it became my hobby. He also had a Peugeot 404 for 25 years.
