Triumph ad I hadn't seen before

Howdy all. In my never-ending quest for all things TR-250, I came across an ad I hadn't seen before. It's from Time Magaine, and was an extra "goodie" given to me from someone I bought another ad from! The photo, I recall, is from the TR-250 dealer brochure. I've included a blow-up of the ad on my website, as well as a scan of the whole page. Unlike the typical Triumph ad of the day, this one is only a quarter-pager.

I'll also be adding a two-page center spread ad from Esquire for the TR-250 in a couple of days! I have to get it scanned at Kinko's since it's too big for my scanner!

Nice find, Bill! Mike Cook's book on the Triumph in America has a lot of the marketing effort included because of his position in the advertising department of Standard Triumph and later, British Leyland. Bruce McWilliams, who really created the TR-250 look for the US market, had to be behind this ad because the content fits so closely the marketing efforts of creating a "new" car from a TR-4.

Cool. I love looking at old car ads. Wish I could find a dealers brochure for my 73 TR6. There had been one on ebay, but the price got way too high so I quit bidding.

I have an original cut out of that add from one of my father in law's Playboy mags! You can see "playboy" on the back of the add, unfortunately no girlie photos..One thing for sure cars have changed, but not girls, although I think many of the TR's from '68 look better than some of the girls in that magazine do now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

That's fantastic! If you check out the ads section of my website, the first ad (the red car) is also from Playboy. Although there are no girls on the back, there is a full-page racy cartoon! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
