Triple ZS Owners - new Heat Shield from Goodparts

Brosky

Great Pumpkin
Offline
I've been going back and forth with Richard Good and have ordered the first one from him, which I will show in more detail on my site once I get it.

I wanted one of these because I found that the rear carb was running 27-29 degrees hotter than the front carb on mine and I want to get that number down as much as possible.

In the mean time, here is a picture of the new design that fits ZS and I believe also SU's. The price is $69.00 plus shipping. I do not know if this will fit the Ratco kit yet, but will post what to do for a modification if it doesn't.

Looks like Joe Alexander is working with Richard to make these parts. Joe's stuff is top notch, should be a good fit with Richard's products.

Yes, they collaborated on the project over the past few months.

I have one of the first 6 made by ARE. It wasn't made specifically for the Ratco cable but I didn't have any problem getting it all to work together. The cable has to attach between carbs 2-3 though. If you want it on carbs 1-2 you have to make a hole for it. I painted the backside white with 1200degree ceramic paint. After an hours drive, all three of my carbs are still cool to the touch.

Shawn,

Are you calling the rear two carbs one & two or the front two carbs one & two?

I number them in the same direction as the cylinders, so #3 would be the rear carb.

In this photo you can see the ratco bracket in place with the heatshield below it.

Perfect. That's where mine is, so it should be a slam dunk.
