After all this global warming I've been shoveling..we finally decided to firm up our plans to go to "sunny" Fl. and enjoy the new place there. If we fly out of Tx. we have to worry about connections in northern states...so we'll fly out of Albuquerque on March 10th., change planes in Houston and land in Tampa about noon. Didn't feel up to the drive to put a car there so we're renting initially and go on a car search...shouldn't take very long to find something. Hope this will help me recuperate...and put me in a better frame of mind.

You and Doc get some grouper on the beach and it'll all be better!

Mickey

10 March we'll be back to Florida weather. THIS trip we'll have comm data, Jack.

Thought we were going to see it, but we are now in NO tues-fri, then west to prairie country for 3 days and back to NO mon-wed. Truth is that SHMBO did not think her first trip to NO should have a day of car show, given the other options. I was looking forward to meeting BCF friends and buying a round. Oh well.

Understandable. Hope you are enjoying "the City".
Bon Appetit !!

long forecast for Fl. looks good....between the weather here and my last few customers I've had to deal with...we're ready. it seems like people are getting harder and harder to please. I put so much detail into finishing a car for someone and all they do is complain. Thught it was just me getting older and crankier...but I hear it from all my pals that have shops.

Add one more, Jack. Peope are gettin' mean.

They think they have a right to do so.

It's just the 'me' generation and their belief that they are entitled!!! Torques me.

I had a book that explained it nicely - we are a generation that expects 100% from everyone 100% of the time - except ourselves. In other words, everyone else is accountable but I am not.

there's a lot of it out there in every generation.

Tell me. When I sold the SP in Sept., I said I "thought" I had a glovebox somewhere from the restoration car & I would include it if I could locate it. In the interim, I threw in a 90% complete trany (at buyer's request) and a few parts that were "extras". The next thing I hear from the buyer is a question about compensation for the non-supplied glovebox. Geeeze!

SAy, "Sure, you're right, you owe me the tranny and other bits back you didn't pay for. Thanks for reminding me. Tha'll be $2,500!"

Mean is right...it seems like the more care you put into a vehicle, and actually lower the price...alot..for people, they still don't get it. I make a fair living but will never be rich. My home here and the place in Fl. is free and clear..no car payments and no vradit cards. My wife has a great job that pays well and I have my mil. retirement...so I don't have to charge that nuch. And I have some great pals that are wonderful mechanics and need a place to hang out when not flying around in Spec. Ops C-130s manacing folks with towels on the heads. and when we finish a car we're really proud of the owner starts nit-picking and complaining. So once this little 63 and 68 pair of Bugs roll out....thats it. From now on its all my stuff. My wife's 65 Mustang from the ground up and my A coupe.

I spent some "Quality Time" in the old H-model ships, Jack.

These old "trash haulers" are a bit different. They look scary just driving past them. Currently retrofitting the last 12 birds for a visit to the desert this summer. I sure wouldn't want to be beneath one and look as if I had bad intentions. All brand new technology. Will get a walk thru of one after we get back from Fl. The V-22s will start arriving also while we're gone. The trip from the plant isn't much of a problem as it's in Amarillo...about 85 nautical from here. They could just about taxi them here.

Yeah, I've seen the newer ones. Waaay tech'd up.

I think that'd be true even with the "old" ones. I know of some truck convoy drivers who'd likely agree.
