What a trip that was. Geesh. Rain--snow--hail--sleet--ice--mountain passes--and a Bugeyesicle. My wife, myself, and the car all made it through in good form. I've got a few pictures up from the trip now on my site:

under "Bringing home the Tunebug." Yes, the car already has a name. I paid for this car completely with the proceeds from my other passion, playing music. Seems to fit somehow. I'm off at a conference for work now (turned around this morning and drove 4 hours back the way I came to Southern Utah) and can't see the little guy, but he's snug in his garage, melting off the ice and waiting for me to start getting him ready.

Berrrrr.

I really like the bug drooartz. something about white cars maybe because my Midget is white. anyway, that is cool not only are you a musician but you are a bass player, that totally rocks. I play 5-string Ibanez, through a Carvin amp (made in san diego) and I also own a few electric guitars, jackson, gibson, and ibanez, and also carvin tube amp for guitar. I've been playing since I've been in the military. I was in a cover band that was made up of other people in the military (mostly navy) and we would play at bars in the ports we visited. and we even played some bars here in San Diego, before we moved on. it was a good time. good luck with the bugeye.

Great pictures Drew! Now I can't wait for my backyard to dry out so I can get my Bugeye out of the basement!

You realize that that bugeye has not seen--quite literally--that kind of weather (freezing rain, hail, snow, ice brrrrr!) in god knows how many years...and quite possibly ever.

Little guy--hope he didn't catch a cold...

Bah, Bugeyes are tough. Kinda like rideing a roller scate on ice or snow though.

I felt bad subjecting the poor little guy to that sort of cold. Talked to my wife last night and she said that the ice has melted off now at least. I'm planning on giving him a good cleaning when I get back into town on Wednesday. Then the sorting out begins.

I like the white as well. It's not the original paint, but it may be the original color. I've got the Heritage Certificate on order, so we'll see. I'm not planning on painting it any time soon, so white it will be.

On the music front--I play all sorts of stuff, these days mostly upright bass and mandolin in an acoustic jazz/bluegrass/rock quartet (bass, guitar, saxophone, percussion). Also play bass in a funk band. I've got an old Spector 4-string and an even older Fender Musicmaster for my rock-n-roll bass. One of these days I'll get some music samples on my site--in all my free time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now I just want to get home and back to my garage!

Bugeyes are supose to be white, but to be honest I'v seen some strikeing other colors.

Good luck.

Looks like you had a Great Adventure on that trip! Hopefully, you'll have many more (under Sprite-power).
Don't forget to fully document your work on that Frog.

And yes, I think there are many of us at BCF that play guitar and other instruments....including Basil.

I play an elec, drill, and preaty well if I say so myself.

Ooh, wish I had a bit of capital right now, I think I would grab that jewel. Funny, when I first started looking for a LBC, I didn't like the bugeyes, now that I've had a midget for about a year, I want one. Guess I better finish the midget first...<stares into space wistfully>

That's a pretty nice looking car, with the later motor/tranny. Mine still has the original 948/smoothcase, and possibly the original block as well--numbers are close, so it's at least possible (Heritage Certificate is enroute). Nice Bugeyes are still out there for the collecting. I'm just glad I've got mine paid for and in the garage now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
