Based on the paperwork I have found, my 73 Midget was re-silled in 1989. Apparently the owner did not want to drill the holes for the MIDGET lettering on the sills for fear of letting the rust bug back in. It must have worked because after 18 years they are rock solid.
Anyway, I want to reattach the letters but using 3M tape instead of drilling holes. I have all the original letters in a baggie left in the trunk and will grind the studs flush.
What I need to know is, where on the sills do these mount? Can anyone out there with a Mark IV Midget do a quck measurement of distance down from the chrome molding (or up from the bottom of the sill), and back from the front of the sill, to help me align them properly? Also, can anyone measure the overall distance of the letters from front to rear so I can get the spacing correct?
Thanks in advance!
