trim installation

One of the last things on my to-do list is install the MKI side molding and hood strip. I think it's fairly critical where the holes need to be drilled in the bonnet so any input on that would be much appreciated. How far from front to rear does each hole go? Maybe someone has a bonnet sitting around with no trim piece to make measuring the hole spacing easy? Side trim is going on too. I think I have all the right hardware in hand, just a matter of figuring out where and what size holes. It is no small matter to me to take a drill to my body panels. Is it good practice to drill a tiny pilot hole or just hit it with a awl first to avoid drill bit walking?

So, maybe a measurement from the front lip of the bonnet to the front edge of the trim piece?

Hi, I am away on Biz so can't give you any measurements, however I have just installed my trim. The bonnet trim sort of found it's own position, I lay the trim on the bonnet and moved it fore and aft till it fitted the curve best, marked that (making sure it's on the centerline), then fitted the little bolts to the trim so that they didn't fall out, and that gives you the position of the holes. A light tap with a centre punch so that the drill tip didn't walk, and remember to paint the hole edges after you have drilled the holes.
As for the side trim, mine already had the holes drilled, but they were 3/16 holes which were too big for the rivets that fitted the little trim clips. I used plastic interior trim clips which worked fine, with bolts at the front of the front trim, middle of the door trim, and at the back of the back trim.
Putting trim on is very rewarding somehow.

I'm still wavering a bit on if I want to drill holes in perfectly good body panels to add the trim or not. I probably will but I'm in no hurry.
