Transmission will not shift into any gear

I finally drove my 67 Midget around the block... everything worked great.. first gear a little noisy, but seems normal. Engine absolutely purrrrs. After I backed her into the garage, shifting out of reverse, transmission then stuck in the center and will not go into any gear. I can kinda mess with it some and seems to want to go back into reverse, but I don't want to damage anything . Where should I start to troubleshoot? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

The reverse lock out plunger may have gotten stuck.
I have seen this twice. Take off the shifter metal housing.
You can see the plunger on the right side top of the tranny shift tower. a shot of oil should fix it. You might have to push it down with an awl if it is stuck, wiggle the shifter towards reverse, and spray some oil on it.

Is the shifter bolted tight to the gearbox? 3 bolts that you can see once the shifter metal boot is removed too.
Those are the easiest checks anyway. Hopefully the tranny did not self destruct.

I see a spring on the right side under the shifter. Above the spring is a bolt through the shifter housing. Any thing else in there I can manipulate to get the thing out of reverse? The shifter was bolted tight to the shift tower. I'm trying not to be too forceful with the shift lever because it shifted easily before this incident.

Thanks

Sid
