TR2/3/3A Transmission numbers on a TR3

I received two what I believe are TR3 transmissions with a parts car. Recently when I looked at them I realized that the numbers on them do not have a TS. Instead they are marked with 1) 10F59/ and 2) 25E59. Did the early transmissions not have a TS number and what can I determine from the numbers that I have found? I might add that the top cap on each of these has brass plugs over where the switches would go for an overdrive transmission. But these are not overdrive units. So did the early transmissions all come with the brass plugs?

Lots of the early gearboxes seem to have not been marked with the serial number. I've got a few of them myself. It's also in a funny place when it is there, but I forget where offhand. Maybe it was on top of the raised boss on the side? Anyway, not next to the clutch shaft like the later ones.

Not sure about "all", but many of them did have the brass plugs even without OD and/or backup lamps (the third plug is for the reverse lamp switch).

These were on the left side boss for the clutch shaft. I would guess maybe like day-month-year or 10 June 1959 and 25 May 1959.

Marv and Charley are both correct. I have a matching gearbox to a 8/54 TR2, my "Date code" is 16G54 or 16 July 54.

I went back and looked harder for the numbers. And looked other places than next to the date stamped area. Sure enough the same place shown on Marv's transmission, I found the TS numbers on both of them. They are both in the TS59000 range.
