Okay,,,,,,,,,

Yeah, you remember the newly rebuilt transmission that I had so many problems with? Got it back together myself and everything was fine. She leaks. I haven't crawled under her to see what is exactly leaking, however, I haven't started it yet. I admit that I have turned the motor over. How many places could the transmission leak from? It is not leaking from the drain. Am I correct in thinking that the only other places that it can possibly leak is from the gaskets?
 
Fill plug, drain plug, tail shaft seal, speedo gear housing, plus any of the gaskets. Did you check and make sure the surface of the side cover was flat before you reinstalled it?

I guess I am just going to have to climp under and see where it is coming from. I'll try and torque down on what I can.
 
On my ribcase the input shaft has a seal just like the rear main on the engine. Just those reversed spiraled grooves to crank the oil back in when the shaft is turning. If the tranny was overfilled with gear oil, it could leak out of the input shaft seal.
 
When I put my newly rebuilt gearbox in my 1500, I over filled it a bit. I had the gear box at the super steap angle neccessary to get it in the car for a long time as I was installing solo. While the gearbox was at the steap angle, all the oil sloshed to the back and a some seeped out. I did not discover the "leak" until later. It took me a little while to figure out what happened.
 
I'll have to look tomorrow. If it were leaking there, wouldn't it be leaking from the drain hole under the clutch?

Wooo Hooo... And Duh!! The speedo housing was leaking. Are you kidding me. I was able to give her a good 1/4 turn!!

Definitely not complaining!! I am a happy man.
