Hello All
I need to change my Transmission on a 61 BT7. I rebuild the whole car years ago and can’t remember if the Transmission can be pulled with out pulling the Engine. I don’t wont to cut or bend the firewall. Can anybody gif me a clue?

The transmission can be removed without pulling the engine. Most of the work being done is from the interior with the trans cover removed. There's a few bolts to be removed from underneath, and you'll want somebody under there to hold the weight of the trans while you remove it through the passenger side door.

Put a screw jack under the rear of the engine. It helps to be able to raise or lower the back of the engine a little to get the transmission free of the body. This is useful taking the transmission out and going back in. I recommend taking the transmission out through the passenger compartment. I know it can be done but I bet it's a bear of a job to remove the transmission and engine together.

Thank you
this is what i need to know. will start next week on it, and see how it works.

Hi Udo,
I probably don't need to mention that -- it is a lot easier to do the job with the seats removed & easier on the seats.
