hello,i have a 2000 xj8L dask board show gear fault,i wonder if any know if the transmision fault ,and how to fixed,
thanks

61601,Take it to a service facility and have the fault code read. Once you know the actual fault you may be able to fix it. There is usually a very nominal charge for this service.---Fwiw---Keoke

thank you keoke, car is not runing ok,i have to way a minutes after a put the car on drive,is geeting late to start moving.i guess tranmission not good no mre.thanks for your advice.carlos

Hi, if the car takes a while to start moving, check the fluid level in the auto transmission, usually a sign of low fluid

As Far as I remember there is no way to check the fluid on the 2000 Xj8 as it is a sealed unit. You have to drain the transmission and there should be exactly four quarts. We had to make up a filling rig to install the special trans fluid. Regular ATF will destroy the trans. so it should only be done by a reputable shop.--
