Trans question

This may be a dumb question, but will a TR7 5 speed trans fit an MGB? I know of a car that is body wise done but has a running gear in it. Any advise welcome Thanks Dave

I'm using a TR8 5-speed behind my Rover V8...to physically make the trans fit (same size as the TR7 trans) we had to cut the trans tunnel between the radio support & firewall & build it up since the trans is taller than the MGB trans.

hmmmm...good question..it has a separate bell housing that fits the V8 rear plate perfectly so I'm gonna bet "no".

So body modifications are necessary and it won't bolt to the engine, which means I would have to put a V8 in just before Annie kills me for ruining her MG.(Notice how they take ownership once they enjoy it) For this year, I think we'll go with the 4 speed and collect parts over the summer. The rivergate kit seems to be the best on the market. For Tony, do you send parts to Canada as I,m always looking for switches and trim pieces? Thanks guys Dave

Dave - I send parts to Canada via US Post "insured" - have started always insuring anything I send via US Post....but I'm thinking about trying FEDEX to Canada.

That's Cool. I will use your link in vendors to contact you and see if we can get some pieces sent to the land of snow and igloos. Oh and Hockey, how did I forget that? I own a 77MGB that I purchased in Middletown NY. It was originally sold in Muscle Shoals Al. and is as solid as new (unknown in Can.) We travel a lot and want to make this the cruiser so I need to get it up and down Interstates at speed. I'll be doing this over a couple of years so you'll be sick of me. Thanks for your help Dave
