Tranny/O.D. Lubrication

I am in the process of mechanical rebuild of a 63 BJ7 and would like feedback on what type of oil should be used in the tranny, OD, and diff. Is it permissable to use synthetic lubricants in these?

I am new to the Healey family and am most impressed with this site. It is the first site I check when I log onto the web.

Cheers,

Ray

I never used the synthetic oil in my BJ7 though it is the only oil I use and is recommended, in my Porsche. It just didn't feel right to use it in a forty-year-old car though I hadn't read anything that said I couldn't. More of a gut feeling than anything else. I used a good grade 30 weight oil in the transmission/overdrive unit and regular 90 weight gear oil in the differential. mac
