trailer tow lights blink too fast

No idea where to post this.....

Anyone have an idea how to get my trailer lights to not flash real fast ?

My tow car is a 1991 full size Chevy van , the turn signal flasher is the standard 2 prong round one you buy at Pep Boys,
When I have the trailer lights hooked up the turn signals flash too fast , I can only assume from the extra load from the trailer bulbs,
I hate to be a target for the Police to get pulled over

Any ideas / cures appreciated

thanks

The electronic replacement flasher that is readily available at any good parts store should fix your problem.
My tow vehicle is a '96 Chevy van, and the electronic flasher I installed cured the same symptoms with it.
A heavy duty standard type may work, but the electronic version will definitely do the trick.

Just be sure to get one for a heavy duty application. Your trouble is too high current flow induced by the parallel circuit of the trailer. The more lights you add in parallel, which this circuit is, the lower the overall resistance, and therefore the higher the current.
