Well, lets see, I paid $500

Bought a spare tire and wheel $40

Wood 3/4 exterior ply wood and bolts $50

Had the stain, paint and polyurathane.

Labor, priceless.


Joe has taken all the measurements with a sketch as well so he could build one. Maybe he will share.

A thought: tow it down to a local welder & get him to weld a sheet of wire mesh all along the center section between the 2 ramps to keep anything on the road from bouncing up & hitting Miss A in her underbelly.

The PO wasn't too concerned with that as he was towing a racecar....just a thought.
 
I had thought of that Tony but just have not gotten that far along in what I want to do. Sort of wish it was a solid bottem but the way it is I could get under the car if needed.

No brakes at all of any kind. Remember the whold kit is only 2K, almost any pickup will handle that.
 
Either are things you can add down the line...just a little welding & then some painting on your part....so, when's she heading this way on her new platform (oops, by "this way" I meant towards Huntsville, not New York)?
 
Aye, show 8 Sep, then engine out for oil pump when weather brakes, then back to the paint shop. Will prob be November some time.

Oh yea, 42" steel plate ramps that are black as well. Trailer height is 12" to the top of the deck.

Local welding shop is quoting $1200 to build another like it (my buddy is inquiring since he can't borrow mine anymore /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'd consider some STEEL diamond plate on the front triangle (welded). That would add some strength and a secure foundation for the winch and spare. Might even consider a small diamond plate box on top, hinged so it flips out of the way, with an electric winch and battery (locked) inside...for these HOT days! Got one in my Pace and couldn't do without it.

The open frame is certainly handy if you need to get under the car while on a trip/show. A couple Rhino Ramps would give you another 6 inches of clearance. A good canvas shop could probably make you a custom cover that would keep things from getting to the bottom of the car (though it's unlikely anything would...I know you won't be towing her in the rain); it could be bungeed in place and removed easily if you needed access.

All possibilities. Main thing is, you've got a good trailer now, that can be customized as you wish!

Last sanding and coat of Polyurathane on the wood this morning. Heh, feels like the dining room table.

Will wire brush the wheels next and paint them.

If it is a bit slipery, he could always put on another coat of poly with sand in it.
 
jack...careful your trailer may pull more attention than the Spridget..chuckle..
 
No slip, see the winch up front, wouldn't want to spin the wheels on the poly. hehe.
