I saw these on Ebay....supposedly a British Leyland Factory competition option. I'm wondering what affect traction bars would have on a TR3 other than keeping the back wheels from hopping. Wouldnt they have a negative affect on hanging the rear end out in corners? Anyone ever had these on their 3?
These bars can do two things, depending on how they are built. They can stop axle hop - and often use rubber buffers that bottom and stop or limit the axle twist. Pinion snubbers do the same thing. They can also more effectively limit spring wind up (the leaf ends up looking like a shallow 'S'), but only if actually attached to the diff by welded brackets and you cn only do that by making the axle free to slide between the spring plates, or you end up with the leaf and bar fighting each other.
Probably nothing is required on a TR-3 - I certainly never bothered with any such measures as you don't get that much of a problem unless you are drag racing, and if that's what you are doing to a TR-3 you would be clearly beyond any help....
