TR8 Update - 9/17

I may be slow as Christmas, but it's getting there...

Re: TR8 Update - 9/17

Thanks, Rod and Shawn. This has taken longer than I had hoped, even though I knew I wasn't going to rush it. I've not had much free time lately to devote to it, and when I do, it's usually only a couple of hours or so.

But at least the engine is in place, and I can start bolting stuff on it. Tranny will go in sometime this week (I hope) and then we'll see how she runs.

The interior is on hold until I get a couple of replacement carpet pieces for the sills, which weren't large enough. The dash is in place, and the instrument pod will go in soon. I took the clock out of the pod and replaced it with an oil pressure gauge - that was fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif But it came out looking not too bad, and if I can figure out how to run the oil line, it should be a nice addition.

The front suspension is all new, with tighter springs, polyurethane bushings, and a rebuilt steering rack. Still have to do the rear suspension, but I haven't disturbed it, so it can be driven once it fires up. Can do the suspension later, when I do some brake modifications.

I had hoped to have it done for the Nashville show on Oct. 14, but it's not looking too good for that date. We'll see... Can't wait to hear the V8 and see how the cam and light head mods do!

Ought to be ready by then! You gonna be able to make the Nashville show next month?

Looks good, Mickey.

Remember, there's no rush. You're still humming along at a good clip from where and when you started.

Re: TR8 Update - 9/17

Thanks, Sammy. As you know, TR8 parts aren't as readily available as some of the other models out there. Likewise, the catalogs with proper drawings and pictures for reference. Plus, I'm making a few modifications to the car, and that always complicates things. Overall, though, I'm pleased with how it's coming along - just can't find the time that I'd like to devote to it. But it will be worth it when complete! Here's a shot I took when I brought it home from the paint shop.

Re: TR8 Update - 9/17

Aloha Mickey,

Looking good! If you maintain a steady pace it will get done. It sometimes unfortunate that we have other obligations like jobs, family, etc. that get in the way of our hobby.
