Wedge TR8 TR7 windshield replacement

When I removed the windshield originally, it had a gasket that went around it. It didn't appear that it served much purpose do to the "black silicone" stuff that they glued the windshield down with. Is this gasket needed for the replacement windshield? If so, does anyone know a supplier that has the gasket available?

For TR7/8 BL used and 'electrically sealed" gasket. A wire heated the gasket and melted it into place sealing the window and trim into place . Oh, the magic of our modern age.

I think the new seals are more coventional. Would a concours judge even look for the tale tale two wires? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

I found the window solbit at rimmerbros.co.uk. Basically, you hook it up to two car batteries (to make 24V) and that makes the seal pliable. At that point you set the windscreen trim in place and let the solbit cool. If you need better directions let me know. I've got the Triumph manual and it covers it pretty well.

Thanks for everyones responses. It looks like I'll have to order the seal kit from Rimmer Brothers. None of the domestic suppliers have this part available. Also, for those of you looking for the TR7/8 windshield, shop ahead of time. None of the windshield suppliers in my area carry this windshield. I'll have to shop around and ship it in from another city.
