Wedge TR8 "Project" ebay gem

OK, so I bought the '80 TR8 DHC "project" listed on ebay last night. They seem knowledgeable on TR's and have a few scca racers in their shop. The seller says the car is complete with minor surface rust. Just wondering opinions at what point the body work becomes excessive and I should move the drive line over to my '76 FHC? Or, I should I move the drive line over to my 'FHC until the body work is finished on the TR8? Good thing my wife loves me enough to let me have three tr's and a rangie while I'm working on her car also.

The only non-starter is if the strut towers are rusted, or the rear suspension mounting points. But then again, if these are rusted, it's more than the surface rust that was advertised.

If it is indeed just surface rust, I wouldn't bother swapping engines. Just break-out the sandpaper, some rust neutralizer, some primer and fill in the spots with paint that roughly matches.

Good luck -- I just started digging into my new 8 too!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Exciting!!!

the tr8 arrived last night. what a project!! all the parts are there, but I think that I'll be using the drive line in my '76 fhc while I get the body work sorted out. that way I can take my time on the body and still have a wedge to drive.
