Wedge TR8 Plate bracket born from old TR6 bracket

Not wanting to drill holes in the face of my bumper and having an old plate bracket from my TR6, before I added the late model chrome frame, I drilled a few holes and found a nice fitting unit. Easy enough to take on and off when I want to.

I drilled 5/16" holes and tapped the inner bumper frame with 3/8" X 16 threads. Some 3/8" stainless bolts and I did use extra flat washers between the bracket and the bumper to bring it down a bit lower, which keeps it level with the top of the bumper edge. There were three bolts that hold the bumper facia in place and with the extra washers, the frame is a hair below them, so no interference issues there.

As usual Paul, your the cats meow!
Tres magnifique!!

Don,

I was looking for something to put there without drilling the front of the bumper and as I was searching for an extra oil pan that I had, I found the TR6 bracket. It's heavy gauge metal and when I saw it's shape, I thought it would work. I almost gave this away two months ago, but the guy who asked for it found his original and didn't need it.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. For a change, I happen to be both guys and didn't have to pay through the nose for this one.

Yes, the Mass state police get a little touchy if they catch you being dumb and the front plate is also missing.

Paul, I wonder if you should put some kind of "softener" behind those 2 brackets with the bolt holes not being used? They might leave a mark on your bumper just from wind and vibration.
Maybe some sticky foam or just slice a piece of rubber hose and slip over them...

That is a good idea. I will be taking it off to paint or powder coat it and a buffer will be added to each side at that point in time.

You obviously have a coupe and can get away with that extra weight placed directly on the nose panel.

Didn't think Md Smokies recognized those plates Mike

I wonder if that guy and girl had any stains on their shorts after you pulled out of that turn?
