Funny - a friend sent me this just before I read it.
I asked him if he was ~trying~ to get me killed...

Looks like mine, I am glad I added the gold hood stripe now. How do you keep an 8 for over a week and not drive it?

Eh thatsaniceone. Looks like a solid low mileage car. Bet it hits 7500. Green seems to be the hardest color to find and brings the highest prices. Bear in mind a paint job on a TR8 runs 3k plus to strip to bare metal and respray. Add to that all of the work to remove and reinstall lights, windows, mouldings, bumpers, yada yada yada. When the original paint checks like that, it goes all the way down to the metal. I've painted more TR8s than I care to admit. Also notice the air pump and air rails are still there. Wonder how that works with the Holley conversion.

That's the exact combination mine was - Poseidon green, tan plaid, black top. Poseidon was too "blue" a shade for my liking, but couldn't find a green I liked, so I changed mine to a red shade. Never thought I'd have a red sports car, but "Lava Red" seemed to suit the body style.

The convertible I am doing over for myself is poseiden green with tan. It took a long time to find one that I was happy with restoring. I had a persian aqua one about 15 years ago with the blue interior, but I never really warmed up to that combo. I repainted my green one with a 95 Rover green metalic. A friend of mine had his painted that color before I did. His car really looked good along side cars with the original green paint. It is very close in shade, just much more brilliant. I motion that we take all of those hideous gold cars and paint them red or white. Do I hear a second?

I'm a hideous gold owner! I don't mind the color, although I would have preferred green also (had a persion aqua one previosuly). I had this car re-sprayed to keep from financial ruin on a color-change!

Of the TR8's left, a disproportionate amount seem to be gold.

I may be mistaken but by the looks of the centrecaps, these are not Panasport wheels

Todd- Isn't that in your's and Woody's neck of the woods?

I'm watching it as well as thinking about a gold one that Todd found for me. I'm also putting together my list of parts for the TR6 spare block that I bought last November. I somehow have accelerated that program from this coming winter to this spring.

It will be torn down by Monday and down to the machine shop by Weds or Thurs next week.

I've got a few emails going with Richard Good and Dema Elgin about cams and roller rockers.

My Fidanza flywheel will be here by the end of the week, so that project may overshadow a TR8 right now.

My wife just walked in with my cup of tea and watched me typing this. She said if I want the TR8 to go buy it. Gotta love her!!!

The plot thickens.........

And Don, Woody, Todd and I are all in the same neck of the woods together. We are members of the same clubs and see each other at all of the shows all summer and fall.

Yea, that car is probably about an hour from me. It was for sale along with a TR7 last year. I recognize the sellers sig. I don't think I have ever seen that car before, but I can't be sure. So many cars come in and out of Woody's shop, that I don't really take notice unless there is something unique about them. I mean come on, most of them are the same four colors. There are very few 1981 model year cars around here, and those are the only convertibles that came in different colors. There have been alot of coupes around here thou. Both Woody and I are big fans of the hard top TR8s. I just bought my 5th a month ago. At least the coupes come in some nice colors.

That's unusual in that there really were very few TR8 coupes ever made. Could it be that some of those are TR7/8 conversions. I was told there were on about 300 that ever hit the docks.

And I have seen Mickey's "red" car. I wouldn't call it red, I would call it gorgeous.

Mickey, ya gonna make it to the Big Easy for the March show?

I want to, but another trip is seriously cutting into our funds!

Janet and I will be going another time, though. I'll be sure to let you know when.

Every time that I hear Woody's "red" TR8 I start to drool, let alone seeing it. That is is one bad---- TR8!

I would like to have a nice driver, although there is nothing wrong with having a rocket ship like his either! I just prefer the convertible.

Woody was telling me last summer at one of the shows how he found his car, the negotiations to buy it and the "fun" trip back home with it. It seems each of these cars has a special story attached to it.

Oh, BTW, it looked nothing then, like it does today.

Shows you how crazy the pricing is getting on TR8s. Three days to go and it is at $7400 with reserve not met. The one I delivered to NJ to get shipped to Australia was much nicer, only had 5100 miles, and was purchased for less than the one on ebay is at now. Guess the Aussie knew what he was doing. Anybody who tries to make a driver out of these low mileage cars that have sat for a while is in for a big surprise. It gets expensive sorting out a car, specially if it needs paint. Been there, done that, not doing it again! Give me a higher mileage pampered driver, owned ny a true enthusiast every time.

This is getting a bit crazy, just watching and the last hour of bidding will probably skyrocket the price.
