Wedge TR8 Most Collectible List?

RSMTR8

I once heard that the TR8 made a list of 10 most collectible cars. Any one know what magazine or even issue that was in? I think it was either a Road & Track, or Car & Driver.

Thanks!

HEY! Watch it!!

If only some of the naysayers would drive one, they'd change their tune. But go ahead - laugh and make fun - that just means the price will stay down for folks who appreciate them. Can't wait to get mine on the road.

I'd love a TR8. And I've never drove one.

Heck, for the right price I'd even take a TR7 coupe...

Well... OK... a coupe would have to be free.

But for the right price I'd take a 5-speed convertible. It would beat the heck out of the POS Dodge Neon I'm beating to death commuting every day. I'd rather beat something I could fix myself and get a TR fix as an added bonus.

Jes' yankin' yours back!

I was one who used to turn up my nose at the wedge, but after riding in one a while back, changed my mind real quick. Better get one while they're still affordable...

Car & Driver recognized the TR8 as one of its Ten Best Collectible Cars. The questions I have is what issue?

Thanks!

Just think what the TR8 has going for it. Unleash the hp and they run with brand new performance cars. Rarity and those looks don't look as bad as I remember.

I'll admit I watched a TR8 pull into the last british carshow I was at and that V8 sound made me want one....If I found one at a reasonable price I'd definatly add it to the fleet...Not so sure about the TR7.

Nothing at all wrong with a TR8. You shoud pep up the suspension and brakes a tad, but otherwise they are the real deal. Nothing wrong with a V8 british roadster.

It's pretty nice to do just that. MY TR8 Coupe is my daily driver. Coupes have a bit of an added bonus when it comes to daily drivers. Especially the all weather and security aspect. Besides, the coupes are a bit lighter and a bit stiffer bodywise than the roadsters.

Of course, I might be a bit biased. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

My TR6 fulfills my top down needs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

OK - stop talking them up. Next thing you know, one will sell at B-J for $97K! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is that you or your car?

I have been a TR7/8 conv fan for years. When I picked my TR8 up from a pal last year,I have driven it everywhere.I like it so much that I have sold 2 of the 4 TR6s that I own,1 to go,the 69 to stay.I have made believers out of everyone who has driven it.Not just for the power, but also for the comfort and handling, and hiway cruising. These same people who have poo pood the cars now ask if I am interested in selling. Thats a definite NO. I am not an interstate road fan but it is nice to get on one and keep up and pass traffic.

I have the car and driver issue at home. I believe it was the May issue but it didn't list the TR7 as a best of ten in the sense you think. I believe it was a top ten of "what were they thinking." Don't jump on me... thats what I remember reading. I'll post the info later tonight.

Just Take a TR7 and do an engine swap and you have a better front end.

Really? How is it better? It's my understanding that the TR8 steering (power) is much quicker at 2.8 turns lock-to-lock, while the 7's is 3.875. The TR8 suspension is the same as the 7, but with uprated springs, dampers and bushings, for the larger engine.
