I was hoping someone could give me some details on what model Delco alt. I should buy and what wiring modifications I will have to do to install a Delco alt. into my TR8.
Long story, short, I need to either replace my Lucas alt. or switch my TR8 to a Delco or other modern alt. I've been told that a early model Saturn alt. will fit and work well with my TR8, if so, what is the make and model number of the alt. and what modifications will I have to do to my wiring. Any and all information will be apppreciated.

Your best bet is to buy the whole conversion kit from Woody. He sells a kit that includes a custom mounting bracket, 100 amp alternator, and a turnbuckle adjuster for the belt tension. You could probably piece something together, but it wouldn't come out as nice.

I have an old TSI Delco alternatore conversion on a coupe I rewired. One look at it and the funky brackets to make it fit and removal was a must! Woody's setup is nice and very simple considering there are only 3 wires originally and you only need 2.

Michael - I actually bought but haven't installed the TSI alternator kit. Is there really a lot of fabrication involved, I thought it was a bolt in.

Tom , Like I said before. It will bolt on but as I said to you and Michial agrees it is a funky deal and un-Ted like.
I Did major work to fit mine a little less funky. '
I'm looking for a smaller unit to fit now.

I used an alternator off a mid '90's camaro with a v-6, clocked the housing, put on a v-pulley and put a bushing in the rear dog for a smaller diameter bolt. Also had to purchase a wiring connector to jumper a couple of the outputs, but I get 105 amps and it bolts right up to the stock alternator mounting bracket.

Don will the wiring fit directly to the saturn alt. or do you have to modify the wiring harness. If you have to make modifications, what are they?
