I learned a lot when trouble shooting my surging problem on my TR8 FI. Unfortunately I'm not sure much of it applies to a carb model. My problem turned out to be the ECU. Sensors are another common source on the FI models (along with vacuum leaks). Good luck. Tom "tdskip" might be able to help.

Yes,
Things are all GOOD as they say, ended up having to re adjust the air fuel mixture, it was running too rich! Then in turn had to put in new spark plugs because of carbon build up, only to find out that the plugs that were in there we set to the wrong gap as well! So bottom line she is GOLDEN once again! I intstalled new Bosch Platinum Plugs.
