Wedge TR8 Hoses?

Hi ,
I am about to purchase a 1981 TR8 in Colorado that will need to be driven to OR . I need to know if there are aftermarket hoses for the radiator upper and lower I can purchase at say Napa, shucks etc? The car also has A/c, I need to know asap as the flight leaves this Fri.

Please email me if you know of and brand part numbers like say gates/dayco etc Vern@britishautobody.com

Thanx a bunch!!

As far as I know those hoses are TR8 unique so the odds of a local parts store having them are slim to no way!

You can still get the correct formed hoses for around $50 a piece.- OR- The outlets are standard GM sizes. Top hose is 1.5" at both ends, and bottom is 1.5 at the engine and 1.75 at the radiator(if I remember correctly). In a pinch, go to any major auto parts store and ask to look at the hoses. Take your damaged hose in as a guide. Match it up with what is there. Usually you can find a similar hose to what you need. Just have to make a cut somewhere in the hose and splice back together with a change in direction to match what you need. I've installed universal radiators in half a dozen TR8s that way using $12 hoses from all sorts of cars. Problem with most universal rads is that the outlet on the bottom points upwards preventing the use of the stock TR8 lower hose. The TR8 rad has the outlet pointing straight out. Here is a pic of the $189 universal rad I just put in the wife's TR8. You can see the angle of the lower outlet which necessitates the "custom" hoses. Good luck with the new purchase.

Shawn isn't selling his Wedge is he?

Not my Coupe, perish the thought, but I have been interviewing possible new owners for my TR6 lately...

I do know of three different TR8 roadsters for sale in northern Colorado. What city are you going to in order to retrieve this TR8 Vern? Shoot me a PM, I most likely know the person you are buying the car from.

I have a spare lower hose for a TR8 w/AC but not an upper hose. When you buy them, don't buy cheap ones. They are not reinforced and won't last long. I had an upper that lasted less than a year. before it split wide open. It wasn't an old stock issue either, just a crappy hose. Kelvin at Moss was able to source some really good reinforced hoses from Australia though.
