Wedge TR8 Diff

I have the Exploder rear end in one of my TR8s. It's up on the lift now, so I'll snap some photos of the rear diff in the morning for you. The downside to using the Explorer rear is that it is a little heavier than the car based 8.8s. The plus side is it has the stronger 31 spline axles. Mine has a 3.73 ratio which would be great for drag racing, but I'd rather have something lower. That's why I'm prowling the junkyards looking for a 3.27. My buddy has one in his TR8, and I love it.

You think the 27 is a better choice than the 08, Todd?

For my green car with the turbo and taller tires it is. It all depends on what you want for your car. Ford axles are fairly common in 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.55, 3.73, and 4.11 Here is a picture of the 3.73 Explorer rear end in my car now with the cover off. Shortened one side and used two of the shorter axles. Ended up around 3/8" shorter than stock if memory serves. I kept the 5X4.5 bolt pattern because wheels are easier to find in that pattern than stock, plus it's a lot stronger. No more worries about breaking wheel studs.
