I bought a operable vent on the "Bay" a while ago and looked at my 8 to see how easy it would retrofit. If anyone has one of these can you check to see which direction it goes. If I use the holes in the new vent to match up with the existing, the vent will open upwards. Is that correct?

Are you talking about the footwell vents? I bought a pair and put them in mine several months ago. I mounted mine so that they open from the top - not sure if that's the way they are supposed to go, but they work very nicely - forgot I had the passenger side open, and went for a drive in the cold weather a couple weeks ago. Couldn't imagine where the "leak" was coming from!

Thanks Mickey. That is exactly what I wanted to know. Did you paint yours first or were they in great shape?

Mine were so-so. I stripped 'em and painted 'em flat black. Can't see them, anyway, so the color probably doesn't matter, really.

To mine to a local machine shop who lets me use his blasting cabinet. I 'll think I'll paint the one I have Hammerite Black
