Wedge tr7 turn signal switch fixing?

Has anybody had any luck with opening up a later style turn signal switch for a TR7/8? I have 2 that both worked; both were accidentally opened, and now neither will signal a left-hand turn. Also, Is it just that one spring itself joining the contacts to complete the circuit? And, is there a torque issue on the cover bolts that pertains to the switch's performance. Any help is welcome; but please save all of the tired LUCAS jokes.

When I first got my wedge, that was one of my first projects. Unfortuantely, it didn't go well...when I opened the switch, all the little parts sprung all over the garage. Had to "spring" for a new one. If on a budget, you can sometimes pick up a used one on EBay for a decent price.
