Wedge tr7/tr8 brake differences

While rebuilding the master cylinder on my '76 FHC and noticed that the brake booster off my tr8 parts car is much larger than the booster on my tr7. Also noticed that the proportioning valve looked different. The bolt patterns are identical and they fit right in. Just wondering if the larger booster is TR8 specific or maybe the later TR7's got uprated to larger boosters. My FHC already has the TR8 front strut assemblies and brakes.

The TR8 booster is bigger. Not as big as a Rover SD1. The MC is the same. I believe the proportioning valve is the same, but who cares, they are overly biased to the front and should be removed anyway. The front strut assemblies are the same, but the TR8 carries larger rotors, calipers, and pads. The rear brakes are the same except for the early 4 speed cars. Anyone looking for an easy upgrade can switch to Ford Capri calipers and TR8 rotors. The calipers are easier to get than TR8. The pads are cheaper as they are the same as 240Z pads, and they come in and out by removing a pin. Best of all, they bolt right up. I have been running them on my race car for years.

hey, thanks for the info and ideas. i use my fhc as a test bed for mods to try on my dhc. maybe i'll try aftermarket adjustable proportioning valves next.
