Wedge TR7 steering rack

I know I'm reaching here, but does anyone know if the quicker TR7 racks were in the older cars or the newer cars? When did they switch, and what were the ratios? I know there two different ones, but it's been a long time since my brain processed this info. A friend of mine wants to convert his TR8 to a manual rack and I don't want to give him a quick one.

The info I have says that one rack, part number RKC235, was used on LH drive cars (assuming you're in the US) up to commission number ACW16862 and part number CAX2099 after that. That would put the switchover sometime around May 1977. Sorry, I have no idea about ratios, but maybe somebody knows what went with which number. The 1977 edition of the workshop manual mentions only one steering mechanism, an Alford & alder that gave 3.875 turns of the wheel lock-to-lock if that's any help. I suspect that's the 1975 to mid-77 rack and not the one that picked up there since the manual was intended for mechanics working on cars at that date, and if they'd known of the 2nd rack they'd have listed it.
