Wedge tr7 spider on ebay

Perhaps that one is a Brown Recluse?
(sorry... I couldn't resist!)

Definitely not a Spider...the VIN isn't even close. Just sent the seller a question thru EBay nicely telling him why it isn't one (was even built in the wrong factory for it to be a spider).

Yup, it's a 30th Anniversary, like mine ('cept uhhh...brown!)

If it were a real Spider, I'd have to buy it so I can join the ObiRich fan club!

um.. call me dumb but 30th anniversary of what exactly in 1980????

Wasn't Triumph making the dickey roadsters in '48 / '49?

30th of the "TR" line? Didn't the TR-2 start in '53???

30th anniversary of British Leyland running their business into the ground?

Here's what I sent the seller via EBay,...

Are you sure this is a Spider? Spiders were all painted black, with red reflective decals and striping, gray interior, and TR8 Leather steering wheel and TR8 alloy wheels. They were all built at Solihull in 1980, the first 2 characters in the VIN are TP, and the actual serial numbers were between 400001 and 401918. The TC prefix of this VIN indicate the car was built at Solihull, and the serial number indicates it was built between June-October 1979.

And here's their response....

We used the word spider in the heading for search reasons only. Spiders only came in Black.

I'm so tempted to mail them back with something like "From your response I see you know what a Spider is. So you intentionally misrepresented this car in order to get more search hits on it?" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif
However, I see the seller cancelled the listing, so I guess there's no reason to. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw in their new listing they have a disclaimer about half way down saying that the car was originally listed under another auction and the word spider was used for the same reason that Rich quotes above. Funny, why not just list the car properly in the first place. Ebay is truely a dangerous place these days for the unwary.

it also has no fresh air plenum and has weber carbs so is no longer un molested.
