Wedge TR7 sender replaced...but still sweeps to hot

Where is this sending unit located, that goes from the thermostat housing wire connection?
I just changed my Temp. gauge in my 7 this week. The Temp. gauge always went to the Hot as well, but that was after 10 minutes of driving. The gauge was from another TR7 I parted out a two years ago. My wife and I drove for 2 1/2 hours today in hot 90 degree weather, (it was beautiful with the sunroof open) and the new guage only went a touch over the half mark. But, from that wire, I have no idea where this sending unit is.

This temp guage going higher than normal could be the dashboard not grounding.This was a problem on the TR8s same dash as TR7..my TR had the same problem, putting a ground wire on the dash assy solved the problem.Then again a plugged radiator could cause this problem.

This is an old post. Turned out to be another bad sender from the factory. Got a new one and it works fine now.
The TR7 is spending the summer with my father, who has been enjoying it for a couple weeks. Of course he's already called me three times with three different questions, including why the battery went dead...turned out he hit the door light getting out.
