Ok. fellas. I'm a neebie here with TR7 stuff. I'm looking to buy a choke cable for a TR7 (dual cable version). Can any of you guys tell me a good source of TR7 parts?

Many thanks in advance!!

Moss doesn't have the part I need, PBNW doesn't either, plus they referred me to TRF, which DOES sell the part but it's been on backorder for 6 months with no ETA.

Haven't thought of Vickie B. I'll look it up.

Anybody used wedgeparts.com? They list the part on their website.

istr he's out of the parts business.
you could try schumacher or woody at the wedge shop.
or the tr7/8 list.
i got a part for the 8 from a guy on the list that was nla...

there is always rimmer brothers in the UK. something small like a choke cable wouldn't cost that much to ship.

Bob,

No I don't have a TR7, I installed dual SU HS8 carbs in the TR6 and the oem choke cables aren't long enough. I've been told by several sources though that the TR7 cable is long enough. I also had to fabricate some small aluminum brackets to hold attach the choke cables to. The whole setup looks factory if I do say so myself (although I realize that's not necessarily a good thing).

I found a TR7 cable at Vickie Brit, thanks humanoid.

With the choke thing fixed that should mark the last piece of the puzzle complete... that car was darned near impossible to start with no choke... I'm told that the HS8 along with many other SU carbs are notoriously hard to start without a choke.

I'm hopefully getting the car on the dyno in the next couple weeks.

My HS6 set up on my FHC uses a single choke cable. I also had to use an early intake manifold. It doesn't seem particularly hard to start in cold weather though.

Well, the HS8 has the fuel bowls facing each other.. so I'm not able to use a single cable for the chokes. I think it'll work out.

After playing with the linkage tonight, I think the problem was a stripped mixture adjusting screw that was allowing the carb to return to a full lean condition. I changed the screw and it started in about 4-5 turns (after sitting for about 10 days). I think the addition of a real choke will completely solve that problem.

Still think I'm running too rich, even with the new UM needles. I didn't have enough time to take ride in it tonight, but tomorrow I'll put the A/F meter on to see how she runs.
