Saw a 1980 Drpo Head in Vegas on E bay - needs a lot of work.

Too bad I can't use it, looks like it would be a good car to do a total rebuild.

Maybe someone on the forum can use it.
 
Not counting the starting bid, I have been the only bidder on it up to this point.

It really does need a lot of work, but the body is sound and its a fuel injected Spider, so I want to restore it totally stock.

Yeah, and even then, not a whole lot. There havn't been any really nice ones in a while though.
The only TR7's that go for much are the Spiders, but only if they are in nice shape. Driver condition Spiders that don't have the origonal seat covers or red emblems have been going in the $4k range. Havn't seen a really nice Spider with all the correct trim though. People are probably hanging on to them, heh.

TR7 Spiders are the only ones that were painted black by the factory, and were the first production run at Solihull before all TR7 production was moved there. They are regarded as having the highest quality assembly of any TR7s and as having the best factory paint job of any Triumph ever produced.
Conversly, the origonal "grey stripe" seat covers were the lowest quality ever in the history of the automobile, so very few origonal seat covers have survived...

Only 1371 Spiders were made, so they will be the first ones going up in value if TR7s start to become worth something.

Gee...kind of makes me glad I bought mine last year. Still has the original carpet, but the seats have been replaced. Recently bought the decal set for it, so she can be dressed out like a Spider should be. I think we got most of the mechanical kinks out last year, so am looking forward to a relatively long and hopefully inexpensive driving season this year.

I'm with you, although mine isn't a Spider, I bought it last July and managed to put about 200 miles on it before I had to put it away. Everything seems to be as it should be, so maybe a reletively inexpensive summer.

I hope the person is purchasing it to restore rather than as a parts car...
 
There is a thread on the mgb experience that talks about "sniping" a practice of hiring a computer outfit to place a last minute bid that will top whatever is already there, and not give the other guy time to place another bid. Interesting concept.
