Wedge TR7 Intake manifold o-ring leak

I just had my TR7 engine rebuilt, with a new block. I can not seem to get the intake manfold water o-ring to seal. New gasket and new 0-ring. Are there different blocks for different years? I did not think so. Any ideas?

I've had the manifold off and on twice on mine, and each time worried about leaks at that O-ring. Haven't had a problem yet. I did use a special O-ring the last time, which I had been hording. It is from a Catapiller gasket set, was a yellow material and slightly thicker than the original. I had had no trouble with the original, however. That O-ring sticks out on the manifold away from the gasket and does look worrisome. If I remember coorectly, the groove for it is only machined in one side. May be a problem with it slipping out of the groove while one is attempting the installation. Some grease to stick it in place might be helpful. Sorry, I can't be of more help. Good Luck!

All the TR7s I had done over the years when I worked at the wedge shop and on my own I never had one leak. We would always use the thick blue silicon. Put some on the head and the intake and get a very generous amount on the o-ring. Another trick was to use some of the adhesive type silicon to get it to stick exactly where you wanted it so there was no worries about it moving and then leaking. Once it is set up then use the thick stuff. The hole is so big that any hanging into the port will not hurt the flow. I will say that once I used a slighty thicker o-ring when I ran out of the 20 or 30 I had stashed away from a carlisle run! I think that was when I used the adhesive to keep it in place. Good luck!
