I did this for my car, and have been happy. Took some shaving to get the heads just the right thickness, but they shouldn't compress over time.

You can buy the rubber bump stops at your local True Value.
They can be installed without pulling the door handle out of the car.
Put some soapy water on the new bump stop and slip the pigtail in place. Close the handle and give it a push. The bump stop will pop into place.
