Wedge TR7 Delco distributor Spring?

Hi All, I've been trying to fine tune my 1980 TR7 with respect to ignition timing. Under full load the car will miss fire through the higer gears. I've spun the distributor back and forth, moved it a gear tooth etc. The only thing left I can think of is to replace the springs such that the arms in the distributor it will not fly out so far. Rimmer bros lists the part at RTC1863, Is there a source in the US for these parts. I do not really want to install a new distributor (mallory) since it idles fine and runs pretty good, except when I really get on the gas for a while as I run through the gears. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Andy J

No idea, but a word of caution. Is your's the Delco electronic or point system. Most of the ones sold in Europe (where Rimmer caters to) were points; ones in the US were mainly electronic. The springs may or not be the same in both types of distributors.

The car is a 1980 30th ann edition with the delco electronic system. It is on its second engine (which I put in my self 4 years ago, I thought it would be an easy swap... 4 months later it started.) The distributor is original, except for the cap and rotor. The reseach that I've done indicates that the springs wear out over time. What I may end up doing is pulling the springs and taking them into a specialiy store and see if I can match them up. Good point regarding the points and condensor system and the word of caution, as the spring tesnsion may be different. Cheers, Andy J
